God, connect with me here, as I seek
you in your Word.
DAY TWO
I began the
seven day study because I found myself down and depressed. Nothing seemed to
matter to me as I noticed myself drowning in my own thoughts. I picked up my
phone and immediately went to my bible application (YouVersion), where I found
this study.
- Psalm 34: 17-18
- The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.
- Reflection: Imagine that you are standing on the sidelines of a football game, trying to Skye yourself up for the battle that is to come. You have been preparing all week. Soon, you look up to see the visiting team, your enemy, walking out of the bus dressed for battle. All of them easily have 100lbs and 3ft on you, if not more. They are giants, and you suddenly feel very small. Your palms get sweaty and your heart starts racing as you forget all about your practices the week before tonight; and the game begins. Halftime arrives and you and you’re entire team has been hit with exhaustion. Everyone’s spirits are hitting bottom as the scoreboard shows the score in bright number. Beside your team name- zero, and your enemy- 36.
- Have you ever felt as if you have hit rock bottom? Nowhere to turn, not sure of how to get back? Maybe you have just failed a test that you have been studying for, or have lost a close friend? Maybe you have fallen back into an addiction that you have overcome once before? God knows we are not perfect, and knows we may occasionally mess up, but he hears us anyway. Ask him to help you overcome your enemy, and he will be there. He will help you have halftime to overcome to enemy and together, you will win.
- Psalm 34:19
- The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time.
- Reflection: You are walking along a park sidewalk, hand in hand with your father. As a young child, you look to your father as your protector, your healer, and guidance. As you grow a little older you become a little braver and let go of his hand but continue to walk beside him. As you start to veer off the path, he reaches out and gently guides you back onto the safe path. Once older, your attention span begins to wonder and you see plenty of marvelous looking things. You spot a butterfly going down another path, and decide to follow it. After going after the butterfly, you finally realize you cannot catch up with it because it just flies further away making you chase after it more. You break concentration on the butterfly and look around. You are alone, on a dark path, searching for someone that is not there with you. You call out into the dark, and hear nothing at first. You call out again, and you hear your father’s voice faintly calling your name. He seems so far away yet you call out again. You hear him again, closer this time. He is yelling your name, guiding you back onto the safe path, full of light and love.
- As you read the story above that God gave me during my prayer time, I ask you to think of the father in the story as God, our Heavenly Father. You may have been following him once and have gotten distracted by something that seemed so wonderful and now you feel lost and confused. He is calling your name, directing you back to him. He comes to the rescue each time. Call out for him, ask him to rescue you. He will listen, and you will hear him calling your name.
♥
Personal Prayer: Father, I pray to
you today asking for your help. I ask that you rescue me for any distractions
that may have me in the grips, or any that Satan has thrown in my way for me to
find. I ask you to take hold of my hand again and walk with, and guide me down
your light-filled path. Help remind me that if I ever find myself lost, to call
out to you and listen for my name. You created me and made me yours even before
my birth, Father. Help me remember who my daddy is, and to look to you for guidance.
I pray you give me strength to be a teammate who will help show your light, and
help my team, both family and friends. I thank you for all things, and give you
all my love. All of this I ask in Jesus Name, Amen.
Reflection: a
thought, idea, or opinion formed or a remark made as a result of meditation.
